Randomness #7 : Featured!

Yesterday while I was browsing through my Flickr account, I found out something was a bit unusual in the stats. The graph went rocket high compare to yesterday's and eventually I found out that a huge amount of traffic is coming from a particular website, SmashingApps.

I just can't believe my eye when I saw my photo is among the 45 examples of slow shutter photos that got featured in the website. I know this is might be nothing to some, but to me personally, after all these years of clicking the shutter as a hobby, it's my second time seeing my very own photo being featured in a website. (of course in a formal way, not the copy paste kind of thing).

Most of you might achieve way better than this; eg. Reuters, Nat Geo etc. But this is a huge morale boost for me to continue learning, and improving my photography.

From Down South

1. Took two days leave
2. This coming Friday is public holiday (in Selangor)
3. Which means only two working days for this week. Yay!
4. My SIL just finished her SPM examinations.
5. There's still two weeks left before parents return.
6. No travelling this weekend, means some time for us to relax!

Flickr Special

I'm a flickr user since Sept 2005. The first photo that I uploaded to Flickr was my table fan shot sometime around summer 2005. I'm not an avid flickr user; I upload photos about once a week, basicly depends on my mood (heh).

Last night I read about the power of Flickr in promoting our photos. In other words, Flickr as a portfolio of our photography works. There are many amazing photographers who used Flickr to showcase their work. Looking at other photostreams, I guess I'd better shoot more, and share with flickr community. Discuss and learn photography skill from others.

By the way, while I was browsing through my stats at Flickr, I'm suprised to find out these few photos which made #1 in the Interestingness, Most Favourite, Most Viewed, and Most Comments photos in my photostream. I'm quite suprise that most of my Car photos made into top ten in the most viewed section. I notice there are backlinks to some automotive forums, which explains the huge number of views.

Sunday Special - Shoot Indoors!

I decided to stay home this weekend. Watched some J-Dorama, and did some experiments with DIY studio set up. With a few glossy white paper & cheap diffuser (tracing paper), I shot this miniature doll. It is actually the smallest piece of a Matryoshka Doll (the traditional russian nested doll)

Wall of Fame

Who can resist a purple colored wall?
Perfect for "studio like" portraiture photos. This effect is achieved with a ring flash. This is one cheap but useful alternative to those who can't afford the expensive ring flash.
